Questions to Ask a Classical Homeopath Before Hiring!
by Kari J. Kindem, Homeopathic Consultant and Publisher

These questions are designed to be a guide and to assist Women who are NEW to classical (Hahnemannian Homeopathy) when first interviewing a Homeopath to treat themselves or other family members.

  1. Why did you become a homeopath?

Tip:  See if they love homeopathy!  Find out if they have a genuine, burning passion for and a deep belief in their work.  Look for whether or not this person truly enjoys and feels called to this kind of work!

    Avoid the highly "egotistical" homeopath!
Listen very carefully to the answer to this question and their reasons.  Tune in to the repeated use any egotistical language, long or self-important discussions of their "importance" in any field, what they have published, who they have cured, what conferences they speak at, etc.

  2. Have you had experience treating someone with similar symptoms to my case before?

Tip: Although not absolutely vital, it is extremely helpful and highly recommended by Homeopathy for Women Homeopathy doesn't treat by disease name, but by symptom pictures.  It helps enormously if a homeopath knows this kind of condition intimately.  Request written references from female adult clients who have been treated successfully for the same conditions you may have - and follow up on these references.

  3. How many years have you been practicing homeopathy?
    Is homeopathy your specialty?

  4. What homeopathic credentials and certification(s) do you  have now?

Tip: the answer ideally is a CCH, DHANP, or DHt.  A homeopath should have at least one of these designations.  While these are credentials of skill and competence in homeopathy in the USA, just because someone has these designations it does NOT guarantee that they are a truly gifted homeopath!  If the homeopath you are interviewing does not have any of these credentials but has an impressive success rate and extensive career and cure experience  (and occasionally you may find a very gifted homeopath who does not have one of these designations), continue to dig deeper and find out "why" they do not have these certifications and credentials.

  5. Where did you study homeopathy and for how long?

Tip: The answers should be a specific program or very intense study with a very knowledgeable person or persons from a reputable, known homeopathic organizations. Get all the information and research that information on the internet and elsewhere.

  6. Who did you mentor with in homeopathy?
Who did you have your clinical experience with in homeopathy?

Tip: Get all the information and research that information on the internet and elsewhere.

  7. What other postgraduate education have you had in homeopathy?
What other continuing education do you  have in homeopathy?

Tip: Get all the information and research that information on the internet and elsewhere.
  8. Do you follow the teachings and the methods of CLASSICAL homeopathy by Hahnemann?

Tip: The answer should ABSOLUTELY be a YES!!
  9. Have you read the Organon?
If you have read the Organon, how often have you read it?

Tip: This is the main source to learn homeopathy and KNOW the principles! They should have read it!! Most very good homeopaths are reading it constantly or at least yearly.

  10. How long is our initial client interview? Do you take the entire history of a client?
What paper work do you require of me.

Tip: the answer should be 1-3 hours, with the ENTIRE history taken in great detail.  Expect to get intake paperwork to complete in great detail.  Be highly suspicious of the homeopath's skill if you are NOT asked to complete a detailed interview and/or not provide extensive details in paperwork, or in person.

  11. Do you treat miasmatically?.

Tip: the answer should be YES!
This is the simple definition of Miasms:
In homeopathy, the theory of miasms originates in Hahnemann's book 'The Chronic Disease' which was published in 1828. The three miasms given in that work are held to be responsible for all disease of a chronic nature and to form the foundation or basis for all disease in general.

  12. What type of homeopathic potencies do you use? (Dry or water potencies?)

Tip: Best answer is water potencies, but these people are few and far between. (Organon 6 homeopaths use water remedies.)

  13. How do you dose?
Do you use just one remedy at a time?

Do you take into consideration the sensitivity of the individual?

Tip: Tip: the answer should be the use of ONE (1) remedy only. Then to watch and wait and/or do test dose in water potency. The answer should NOT have you taking more than one remedy or taking them on a routine basis. Homeopaths sometimes give alternate remedies, but that is not the usual.

  14. How do you choose the remedy?

Tip: This answer is very important! They should use NO gadgets or machines or muscle testing to choose a remedy! The answer is, the remedy is selected on the totality of characteristic symptoms of the unique client!
    Note:
Computer software is NO guarantee of proficiency either, or of skill or exactness. Old-fashioned reportorizing the case in Reportory books, and then using Materia Medicas to conclude the search, can be far superior to feeding info into a computer. (One danger some homeopaths fall into with their computers: garbage in, garbage out!) But computers can speed the search, for an already competent homeopath.

  15. Do you follow a fixed remedy protocol or system or sequence of homeopathy for every  client with a similar diagnosis?

Tip: the answer should be NO!!  TO BE SUCCESSFUL. CLASSICAL HOMEOPATHY MUST  BE PERSONALIZED TO PERSON'S UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCES AND ISSUES!

Classical homeopathy always AVOIDS the same protocol for everyone!  Homeopathy for Women urges you to AVOID ANYTHING that looks like a "daily zincum - for days/months protocol" or "remedy #1 this week, then remedy #2 this week, etc." Any treatment philosophy that is systemized or given as a 'cookie cutter' set of remedies over a standard period of time is NOT classical homeopathy!

  16. Do you follow through with your clients after they take their remedies?
How do you monitor their progress?

Tip: Follow-up is essential!  The importance of follow through and maintaining contact with a client by the homeopath after taking the remedy is crucial to developing rapport between homeopathy and client and monitoring the client's progress. Be extremely wary of a homeopath who does not make clear arrangements for regular follow-up after the client is given a remedy.

  17. How available are you in an emergency, nights, weekends?
How accessible are you to talk to in person?
How accessible are you after hours and/or on weekends and holiday periods?

Tip: Ask for he homeopath's business schedule.  Make sure your homeopath has a schedule that makes the homeopath accessible to your specifics needs.  Make sure this schedule and the homeopaths availability matches your expectations of a professional who caring for you and/or family. Expect quality client care and responsiveness from a true professional homeopath that you are trusting with your precious family - and accept nothing less!

  18. Will you treat acutes (short term illness) with homeopathy?

Tip: the answer should be YES.

Other Questions to Ask
Additional questions to give you more insights about a Homeopath

  1. Do you have a family?
Do you/did you treat your own family with homeopathy?
Do you treat yourself with homeopathy?

  2. Do you mix homeopathy with herbs, drugs, other things?
Or, do you ONLY use homeopathic remedies?

Tip: the answer should be ONLY homeopathic remedies other than nutritional products, such as certain supplements and/or vitamins.

  3. Do they use machines for selecting a remedy?

Tip: the answer should be NO!
  4. Do they use any computer software to assist you in selecting the correct remedy?
If so, which software or system(s) do you use?

Tip: the answer should be YES - but, a computer system does not guarantee that the homeopath picks the correct remedy.  There are thousands of remedies to choose from.  Make sure your homeopath has intellectual expertise and the tools for properly selecting the exact right remedy for you. (Reportory books, Materia Medica's, etc.)

  5. Do you advocate conventional vaccination?

Tip: the answer should be NO!
  6. What is your view on allopathic vaccination?

Tip: So many homeopaths don't know about the dangers of vaccinations. Even though it is so obvious if you know homeopathic principles, don't expect enlightenment here. It may be up to YOU to help educate them!  Some homeopaths may have a blind spot here and are as  brainwashed as the rest of the world in many cases. Join us in educating them!  Some homeopaths don't like to say their view on allopathic vaccinations until they know you well enough because of fear of reprisal by allopaths and spies.

  7. Are you willing to use nosodes or vaccines in potency to unblock a case, if necessary?

Tip: the answer should be YES - if they are experienced with this type of treatment.
