Spongia tosta (spong.)
(toasted sea sponge)

Reprinted by permission from The People's Repertory by Dr. Luc De Schepper

Spongia is very well-known as a cough remedy for the dry, hacking, croupy, barking cough, day and night, exhausting the person. This cough tends to be worst at midnight (like Aconite) and better when the person drinks hot liquids. It is usually called for when the cough starts after being exposed to dry cold winds (again, like Aconite). It is one of the great croup remedies, along with Hepar sulph and Aconite.
