For our purposes, the main indication is for the brutal, lingering pains after the herpes-like legions of shingles (herpes zoster) have disappeared. Not uncommonly, the person suffers more from these postzonal neuralgias (as we call them in medicine) than from the original shingles attack. There is violent burning and itching in the blister-like eruptions; the person scratches until they bleed, and then there is crust formation. Mezereum is also an excellent remedy for impetigo (although Ant-crud. is the first choice.) |
