Deborah explains how homeopathy
differs from conventional medicine:
"Homeopathy differs from conventional medicine in several ways.
Physicians of the past have learned and taught us that we all have an
energy within us to heal ourselves. Called "vital
force", Ancient physicians were
familiar with this natural power of the organism to control disease and
they invented for it a beautiful expression: "Vis
medicratrix naturae" (healing power of nature).
This force is always at work to keep our bodies in balance.
According to homeopathy, symptoms are a reflection of this disturbed
vital force. We need to understand that symptoms are the bodies
natural way of trying to heal itself.
Homeopathic medicine is
aimed at correcting the disturbed vital force and thus enhances the power of the
body to heal itself. Conventional
medicine treats the symptoms only, such as a cough by suppressing it with
various means. Conventional medicine, therefore tries to control the illness
(symptoms) through the regular use of medicinal substances. Once these medicines
are stopped, the symptoms (illness) returns. Homeopathy takes the cough as
well as other symptoms and finds a remedy that will stimulate the ill body to
restore itself to health. In conventional medicine thought, health is seen
simply as the absence of disease. In homeopathy, health is much more than
that!
I am deeply grateful
for the science, art, and wisdom of homeopathy. I have seen its power in
the birthing process, the process of death and its ability to treat many
ailments of mankind."
